Solar Canopy - Jacumba Port of Entry
by Mark Chenchin — Winner of Fellowship Competition

Large solar power array, integrating thin-film/nano-technology modules with translucent mesh canopies creating a monumental space for drivers/pedestrians. Exterior canopy provides refuge from elements, reminiscent of airports/train terminals. Photovoltaic ‘power plant’ reduces regional energy consumption. Modular design of PV structure is scaleable to needs. Buildings thermally massive, with evaporative cooling.
